Washington Salute is kicking off the 2020 Touching Base Tour, presented by GEICO Military alongside Buffalo Wild Wings, USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore and USO Hampton Roads on Oct. 5. The Washington Salute team will travel to 15 military installations throughout Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., connecting with 1,500 service members to thank them for their service throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

To conclude the fourth week of the Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military, Washington Salute and Buffalo Wild Wings visited long-time installation host of the Washington Football Team, Marine Barracks Washington. The installation who normally hosts the Pro's vs.. GI Joe's Gaming Tournament, was excited to host the Football Team in celebration of the triumphant victory of the Cowboy's! Marines were excited to receive their packages, take on challenges virtually sent by the First Ladies of Football, and chat with Washington Football personalities!

Washington Salute Takes 2020 Touching Base Tour Presented By GEICO Military to the United States Navy Museum (Navy Yard) for Stop Eleven

On Monday, October 26th, Washington Salute teamed up with Naval Support Activity Washington continuing the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military as the eleventh (of fifteen) stop! The distribution and connection event featured sailors representing Naval installations across the Military District of Washington, as well as Commanders at Navy Yard! Sailors were excited to celebrate the big win over Dallas with the Washington Salute Team and were thrilled to receive Buffalo Wild Wings gift cards (with a BWW location just two blocks over). The Washington Football Team thanks the community outreach team and Public Affairs Office for hosting us in the United States Navy Museum for a spectacular eleventh stop of the tour!

On Monday, October 26th, Washington Salute joined Buffalo Wild Wings at Henderson Hall (parallel to Arlington National Cemetery) for the tenth stop of the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military. A mix of Marines stationed on the installation and Marines that have spent the past eight months teleworking, showed up to engage, virtually chat with the First Ladies of Football, and celebrate the win over the Cowboys with us! Upon departure, Marines yelled "Go Washington!" and our staff responded "Semper Fi!" Special thanks to all of the Marines that made our tenth stop special!

On Friday, October 23rd, Washington Salute joined the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore at the USO Warrior & Family Center at Bethesda to distribute appreciation packs to health care professionals and patients from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The distribution was alongside a USO YUM Lunch (Your USO Meal) where the USO staff members and volunteers distributed lunches to service over 150 service members, as well! Special thanks to the staff at the Warrior & Family Center for hosting us and allowing us to virtually bring our cheerleaders and sideline reporters with us!

On Friday, October 23rd, Washington Salute joined the Warrior Family Connection Cell Team at Building 19 of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to hand appreciation packages out to wounded, ill, and injured service members, as well as the medical staff serving them. From 0900 to 1030, service members and family members of those being treated at the center stopped by the table to take photos with the Washington Football Team helmet, talk football, learn about Washington Football Team Salute to Service Initiatives, and, of course, receive their appreciation package featuring Washington Football masks, Buffalo Wild Wings Gift Cards, and more! Special thanks to the Warrior Care Unit for hosting us and we can't wait for the Virtual Walter Reed Tour with the team on November 10th!

On Monday, October 19th, Washington Salute was joined by Buffalo Wild Wings at the USO Warrior & Family Center at Fort Belvoir in celebration of the seventh stop of the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military. The stop hosted guest commanders on the installation, virtual engagement with the Washington Football Team First Ladies of Football, and service members representing every branch. The stop, hosted at the largest USO Center on the East Coast, was the first event held at the USO Center which was renovated during the 2019 Huddle for 100 Initiative by Washington Football Alumni!

On Monday, October 19th, Washington Salute was joined by Buffalo Wild Wings on the sixth stop of the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military to distribute over 100 Marines from across the region. The stop was held at the Quantico West USO Center, which recently opened in March 2020, and it featured virtual challenges from the First Ladies of Football, Washington Football competitions, and interviews with Washington Football personalities.

On Monday, October 19th, Washington Salute joined USO-Metro and Buffalo Wild Wings on the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military to give back to those serving on Joint Base Myer Henderson-Hall. The crowd primarily consisted of ceremonial service members representing every branch in the military prepared to perform duties in Arlington National Cemetery. The distribution occurred at 7 A.M. catching all military members on their way to duties or work. The distribution extended to the Fort Myer Mess Hall where Washington Salute was also permitted to thank and honor military members preparing food for the entire installation.

On Monday, October 17th, Washington Salute arrived at the Honor Guard USO Lounge on Joint Base Myer Henderson-Hall to distribute 100 appreciation packages with USO-Metro and Buffalo Wild Wings to service members with ceremonial positions in the respective branch and soldiers training in the U.S. Army.

On Thursday, October 15th, Washington Salute teamed up with GEICO Military, Buffalo Wild Wings, and USO-Metro to bring 98 appreciation packages to the United States Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard Training Facility. Coast Guardsmen were paused training to come out to greet the team, learn about Washington Salute, and cheer fellow guardsmen on as they accepted the push-up challenge from the First Ladies of Football! We'd like to thank the guardsmen for allowing to come on and thank our Coasties for their service throughout the COVID-19 pandemic!

On Wednesday, October 14th Washington Salute joined USO Hampton Roads and Central VA at the Fort Lee USO Lounge to distribute appreciation packages in a drive-by event featuring active-duty service members and their families driving by the lounge and picking up their packs. Due to COVID-19 prevention guidelines on each individual installation, civilian access and event regulations vary across the region, therefore the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military will vary in distribution from one installation to the next! In exciting fashion, service members parked to chat with Washington Football personalities and virtually engaged with the First Ladies of Football in special challenges and contests furthering the teams connection to the military community and continuing the USO mission in connecting our active-duty service members with family, home, and country throughout their service! Check in at end of the month with a video feature showing us how service members fared in the cheerleader challenge!

On Monday, October 5th, Washington Salute hosted the second stop of the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military with the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore and Buffalo Wild Wings on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling with the United States Air Force Honor Guard. The group of airmen are tasked with encapsulating a legacy of Airmen who: promote the mission; protect the standards; perfect the image; and preserve the heritage. They participated, learned about Washington Salute, and posed for photos with Landon Collins Helmet!

The second and final stop of the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military with the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore and Buffalo Wild Wings occurred on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. Airmen from the United States Air Force Honor Guard scattered to the USO-Metro Mobile Unit for Halloween goodie bags and appreciation packages from Buffalo Wild Wings gift cards, virus-protection masks, and Washington Football masks.

On Monday, October 5th, Washington Salute kicked off the 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military with the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore Mobile Unit and Buffalo Wild Wings on Joint Base Andrew's with the First Airlift Squadron! The featured YUM Lunch with the USO-Metro Mobile was located inside a hanger as airmen came in periodically to abide social distancing guidelines grabbing their lunches, receiving their appreciation packages, talking to Washington Football Team personalities, and testing out some challenges virtually sent from the First Ladies of Football! One hundred care packages were distributed as the Washington Football Team continued their efforts thanking military members that have stayed committed keeping our communities healthy and our country safe.

On Monday, October 5th, Washington Salute kicked off their 2020 Touching Base Tour presented by GEICO Military joining airmen from the 1st Airlift Squardron at Joint Base Andrews. The airmen serving at Joint Base Andrews in the 1st Airlift Squadron conducts air transport of various high-level U.S. military and government officials.
