2015 Free Agency Outlook: Cornerbacks

With free agency set to begin in less than two weeks, Redskins.com's Stephen Czarda previews the 2015 NFL free agent class. Today's focus is on the cornerbacks.

Could the Redskins be in the market for some veteran help at cornerback?

That remains to be seen, but heading into the 2015 season, they are expected to return their top three cornerbacks from last season: DeAngelo Hall, David Amerson and Bashuad Breeland.

Hall, who told NFL Network on Monday that his recovery from a twice-torn Achilles' tendon is "going good," is a veteran of 11 NFL seasons.

This is the first time in his Redskins career, though, that he's coming off a season-ending injury.

When on the field, though, the three-time Pro Bowler still remains one of the top players at the position.

Amerson, meanwhile, started a career-high 15 games in 2014. While he showed flashes of the talent that made the Redskins take him with the 51st-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the N.C. State product hopes to use the 2015 season to shore up some otherwise inconsistent play.

Breeland, meanwhile, proved to be a valuable late-round pickup in last year's draft, as the Clemson product recorded 71 tackles and a team-high two interceptions as a rookie.

His second interception off of Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez helped the Redskins pick up a key victory over their rivals in Week 16.

While the trio looks to move forward together, E.J. Biggers will hit the open market.

Biggers, who spent his last two seasons with the Redskins, started two games in 2014 with 31 tackles.

Here is a list of the other veteran cornerbacks slated to become free agents in March:

Revis, a six-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro, has a contract option for the upcoming year and the Patriots have yet to make a decision as to whether or not they exercise it.

In eight seasons, the Pittsburgh product has 391 tackles, 123 passes defensed and 23 interceptions.

Maxwell and Flowers, meanwhile, each appeared on NFL.com's list of the top 25 free agents.

As a member of the Seahawks' "Legion of Boom," Maxwell recorded 24 passes defensed, six interceptions and two passes defensed in the last two seasons while Flowers, a 2013 Pro Bowler, spent last season with the Chargers after six seasons with the Chiefs.

Cromartie has also played at a Pro Bowl level over the years, as he's a four-time Pro Bowler. During the 2014 season, the nine-year veteran recorded 49 tackles with 10 passes defensed and three interceptions.

Rogers, of course, has ties to the Redskins as he was the team's first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.

In six seasons in Washington, the Auburn product recorded eight interceptions.
