SB Nation's Dan Kadar believes the Redskins will select impactful defensive end Jonathan Allen -- a Virginia native -- with their first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

While the Washington Redskins' defense showed marked improvement during the 2015 regular season – they led the league in forced fumbles and registered 38 sacks – SB Nation's Dan Kadar believes the unit could add a talented local product.

In his latest mock draft, Kadar has the Redskins taking Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen with the 21st pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Allen attended Stone Bridge High School in Leesburg, Va., which sits 10 minutes away from Redskins Park in Loudoun County, Va.

"Washington's defense needs some players who can make an impact, and that's Allen's specialty," Kadar writes. "He has 12 sacks this season and can line up outside in a three-man front or inside in a four-man front. He's not just a pass rusher either. Allen has the strength to get off blockers and stop the running back."

The junior defensive end was selected to the All-SEC First Team by conference coaches and the Associated press after his 12-sack season.

According to RollTide.com, Allen ranked ninth nationally in sacks per game (.86).

Four times during the 2015 season Allen tallied at least two sacks including three against Mississippi State on Nov. 14 and two against Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl.

Allen earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors for his performance against Mississippi State.

During his sophomore season in 2014, Allen finished second on Alabama on tackles for loss (11.5) and sacks (5.5) along with his first All-SEC First Team selection. Three times he earned Defensive Player of the Week honors by Alabama's coaching staff.

As a freshman in 2013, the 6-foot-3, 283 pounder appeared in 12 games, making 16 tackles and forced a fumble.

Allen was a five-star recruit who was the 11th rated defensive end in his class nationally. During his senior season in 2012, Allen collected 119 tackles with nine sacks, six fumble recoveries, eight pass breakups, six blocked kicks and had seven pass breakups.

He selected Alabama over 17 other offers.
