For Washington Redskins 2015 seventh-round draft pick Austin Reiter, his football foundation was laid early in his life, and in a unique way.

In an interview with Draft Diamonds, Reiter said he began playing football in the third grade. Along the way, he also played baseball and soccer.

Off the field, his training was somewhat different than that of your prototypical offensive lineman. While he undoubtedly has spent his fair share of time in the weight room, that wasn't always his sole mode of strength training.

You see, his father, Richard Reiter, owned a construction company and he helped out often with the family business. When he was a teenager, the 6-3, 296-pound University of South Florida product remembers getting his hands dirty at the work site.

"When I was 13 or 14, I was swinging a sledgehammer and breaking up parking lots. It was good mental and physical conditioning," the 21-year-old said in an interview with the Bradenton Hearld. "It was influential from a standpoint that you learn you don't want handouts in life, that it feels so much better when you work for something."

Reiter became the third offensive lineman taken by the Redskins in the 2015 NFL Draft when the franchise selected him 222nd overall.
