The Washington Redskins announced today that they have named Anders Beutel as Head Equipment Manager.

Beutel assumes the role previously filled by Brad Berlin, who was named Director of Equipment Operations at the University of Michigan on Wednesday after 13 seasons with the Redskins.

Beutel is a veteran of 17 NFL seasons, including 13 with Washington as an assistant equipment manager.

His previous responsibilities included assisting Berlin in the distribution and maintenance of equipment and uniforms, as well as assisting the Washington coaching staff on the practice field.

Beutel will now oversee the purchase and maintenance of all team equipment and coordinate the transport of all team gear.

"I want to thank Mr. Snyder, Bruce Allen and the Redskins for giving me this opportunity and thank Brad Berlin for the opportunity I had to work with him for 13 years," Beutel said. "I look forward to continuing our work in preparation for the 2014 season."

Beutel originally joined the Redskins in 2001 after spending four seasons as an equipment assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1997-2000.

He also spent several years in NFL Europe, serving as an assistant equipment manager for the Frankfurt Galaxy in 1997 and as head equipment manager for the Amsterdam Admirals in 1998-99.

He is a native of River Falls, Wis.
