Redskins President Bruce Allen's roots run deep in the city of Richmond, Va. Allen attended the University of Richmond from 1974-77, and was an outstanding football player for the Spiders (he was inducted to the Richmond Athletics Hall of Fame in February) before moving onto the NFL.

Allen's never forgotten where he's come from, so while he and the team are down in Richmond for training camp, Allen decided to team up with his alma mater to create "Bruce's Brigade," a partnership that will benefit the children of Richmond-area first responders.

One of the duties of the organization will be to provide free Spiderling Kids Club memberships and Spider summer camp registrations to those children of first responders in the Richmond area.

"I've always had a special place in my heart for first responders, and even more so since 9/11," Allen told Richmond Athletics. "Richmond has done a tremendous job of building a culture that would be great for kids, and to partner that with the first responders' cause, it really was a no brainer. We're all really excited about the future of this partnership."

Fans can partner up with Bruce's Brigade and donate $5, which will aid in the sponsorship of other opportunities for the children.

The Spiderling Kids Club is open to all youth in eighth grade and below. Membership in the Club includes access to certain football and men's basketball games, as well as access to all women's basketball games, a free t-shirt, membership card, a weekly newsletter and so much more.
