Redskins assistant coach Coy Gibbs has decided to leave the team this offseason to start a motocross race team in Charlotte, N.C.
Gibbs, who served as a quality control coach on offense, spent the last three seasons with the Redskins. He is the son of head coach Joe Gibbs.
Gibbs has plenty of experience in the racing circuit, having competed as a driver on the NASCAR Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series prior to joining the Redskins.
He had two top 10 finishes on the NASCAR Busch Series in 2003 and had 21 top 10 finishes on the Craftsman Truck Series from 2000-02.
