Redskins Senior Vice President of Player Personnel Doug Williams isn't ready to jump to conclusions on the team's starting quarterback competition, but rookie Dwayne Haskins has impressed him.

"To be on the sidelines during OTAs and minicamp and see the young guy do what he's done and take command of the opportunity that he's had," Williams told Williams told NFL Network during the NFL Quarterback Coaching Summit in Atlanta on Tuesday. "To see a guy walk up out of the huddle and see the poise that he has, the patience that he's exhibited, there's room to have a lot of hope."

Haskins, whom the Redskins drafted 15th overall in this year's draft, is competing with veterans Case Keenum and Colt McCoy for the starting quarterback job.

Williams noted the quarterback decision will be made collaboratively between himself, head coach Jay Gruden, team president Bruce Allen and owner Daniel Synder. Gruden has been pleased with Haskins' progression in the Redskins' offense thus far.

"I don't want to say that he's going to start Game 1 today," said Williams, who starred at quarterback for the Redskins' Super Bowl XXII team in 1987. "But it's been a pleasant and enjoyable scene to see what Dwayne Haskins has done over the last few weeks."
