When Redskins Park opened for business this morning, players were already at the facility, preparing for meetings and conditioning with teammates.

The atmosphere was light, as most players socialized with coaches and personnel for the first time since mini-camp in June. 

"I made a couple of stops [at Redskins Park] over vacation, but this is my first time being here for the whole day," veteran Lorenzo Alexander said between meetings. "For me, getting back to work is really exciting."

This is Alexander's seventh camp with the team, as he returns as one of the senior-most Redskins.

"I'm ready to go," he said.  "I've learned what I need to do and how to get through camp. It's another year, another opportunity to go out and prove that I belong in this league, and for the team to come together and compete."

Before departing for a meeting with the linebackers, Alexander said that he's interested to see how the offseason additions fit into the Redskins team; especially quarterback Robert Griffin III.

"I'm excited to see what he can do," Alexander said with a grin.

After checking in with the coaching staff, players headed downstairs to meet with trainers and get weighed. After meeting with the training staff, players reported to the Redskins auditorium, where head coach Mike Shanahan led the first full-team meeting of the 2012 season.

By mid-morning, players broke off into their position groups and met with coaches in preparation of tomorrow's first training camp practices.  For most positions, meetings lasted for the rest of the afternoon.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is expected to address the media this evening at 5:30, for the first time since signing his rookie contract.
