REGULAR SEASON WEEK 9WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-5) vs. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (3-5)
Sunday, Nov. 2 – 1 p.m. ET
TCF Bank Stadium (52,000) – Minneapolis

Two of Week 8's most dramatic victors will face one another on Sunday as the Washington Redskins will travel to play the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9. Kickoff at TCF Bank Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.

On Monday, the Redskins defeated the previously 6-1 Dallas Cowboys in a 20-17 overtime victory. Kicker Kai Forbath converted a 40-yard field goal attempt on the first possession of overtime, and the Redskins' defense followed by forcing a turnover on downs to give the Redskins their first overtime victory against the Cowboys since Nov. 2, 1975. The Vikings are coming off of a Week 8 victory in which rookie linebacker Anthony Barr helped Minnesota defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a walkoff 27-yard fumble return in overtime.

The Redskins have now won consecutive games for the first time since a seven-game winning streak to close the 2012 season, engineered in part by quarterback Colt McCoy's two debut efforts in burgundy and gold. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, McCoy became the first player in NFL history with a minimum of 25 passes to complete 80 percent of his passes and average 10 yards per pass over his first two games with a team.

REGULAR SEASON SERIES

The Redskins hold a 12-11 overall series lead on the Vikings, including a 3-2 record against Minnesota in postseason games. The 2013-14 seasons will mark the first time in series history that the Redskins will face the Vikings on the road in consecutive seasons, though 2014 will represent the Redskins' first visit to TCF Bank Stadium after facing the Vikings at the Metrodome a season ago.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR THIS WEEK

  • The Redskins and Vikings meeting in the regular season for a fifth consecutive season. This is only the third time since divisional realignment in 2002 that the Redskins have faced a non-divisional opponent five consecutive seasons (Tampa Bay, 2003-07; St. Louis, 2008-12)
  • The Redskins improving upon their 12-11 all-time record against the Vikings, including postseason play. The teams' all-time regular season record is currently knotted at 9-9.

The Redskins making their TCF Bank Stadium debut. In regular season play, the Redskins were 1-1 against the Vikings at Metropolitan Stadium and 4-2 against the Vikings in the Metrodome. * The Redskins adding to their 27 points on their possession of second halves this season, tied with Miami for most in the NFL. * The Redskins forcing at least two turnovers in a third consecutive game for the first time since Week 15-17 of the 2013 season. * The Redskins (nine) recording two receptions of 50 yards or more to surpass their full-season total from 2012 (seven) and matchup their full-season total from 2010 (nine). * Kicker Kai Forbath maintaining the highest field goal percentage in team history among players with at least 50 field goal attempts (88.9 percent). * Wide receiver Pierre Garcon recording two touchdown receptions to match his single-season best as a member of the Redskins (five in 2013). * Running back Roy Helu, Jr. registering another 30-yard reception. If maintained, Way's average would rank second in team history, trailing on Sammy Baugh's full-season NFL record (51.4 yards per punt in 1940). * Way recording a 60-yard punt to become the first Redskins punter to record a 60-yard punt in five games in a single season since Matt Turk (five in 1998). * Fullback Darrel Young tying a career high with his fourth total touchdown of the season. Young had four touchdowns a season ago (three rushing, one receiving).

A REDSKINS WIN WOULD...
… give the Redskins wins in three consecutive games for the first time since winning seven straight to close the 2012 season.

… represent the Redskins' second win against an NFC opponent this season.

… be the Redskins' second road victory this year.

… surpass the Redskins' win total from a season ago (three) with their fourth victory of the season.

… improve the Redskins to 13-11 all-time against the Vikings and break a current 9-9 deadlock in regular season games against Minnesota.

… be the Redskins' first win in Minnesota since Dec. 23, 2007.
