Saturday's victory over the Indianapolis Colts brought the Redskins peace of mind heading into the final preseason game.

Head coach Mike Shanahan told reporters after the game that he had seen enough of quarterback Robert Griffin III, and would rest his starters on Wednesday in preparation for Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.

On the day, Griffin III completed 65 percent of his passes, protecting the football and throwing for 75 yards in the first half.  With the game tied at seven, Griffin III found Santana Moss for a 4-yard touchdown pass and the lead.

"I thought we had a good performance overall as an offense," Griffin III said after the game.  "If we are going to finish the preseason with this performance, I think that was a great way to finish it."

Griffin III finishes the preseason with the following line: 20-for-31, 194 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.  He added 22 yards on the ground, on four rushes.

Griffin III's role will change Wednesday night, as he carries a clipboard and either Rex Grossman or Kirk Cousins leads the Redskins' offense.

Even though he won't be contributing on the field, he promised to be an animated presence on the home sideline.

"The Tampa Bay game we will have a lot of guys out there fighting for spots on the team," he said.  "I'll be out there jumping around as always, pumped up for the game.

"[Shanahan] wants us to sit out and get ready for the Saints and that is what we are going to do."

During the preseason, the Redskins coaching staff has been careful not to expose Griffin III or the game plan with him at the helm.  In a little under two weeks, he will be given the opportunity to run the full offense against the Saints in the 2012 season opener.

"It'll be fun to get to utilize our whole offense and put in some plays that we haven't run in the preseason," Griffin III said.  "I always tell the coaches that I enjoy the game plan because you know what you are going to get.

"The defense will throw in a wrinkle here and there.  But at the end of the day, teams are going to play what they play."
