The fans have spoken: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been awarded his seventh NFL Rookie of the Week honor for his performance vs. Philadelphia in Week 16.

Griffin III completed 16-of-24 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns to secure the Redskins' sixth-straight victory. It was Griffin III's first start since spraining his lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in Week 14.

Griffin III now has 3,100 passing yards this season, marking the 20th time in Redskins history that a player has thrown for 3,000 yards in a season.

Griffin III threw for his 19th and 20th touchdowns of the season, extending his rookie franchise passing record for touchdowns.

His 752 rushing yards, combined with running back Alfred Morris (1,413) give the duo 2,165 yards on the ground this season, the most by a pair of teammates in a season in Redskins history.

Griffin III was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies.  The other finalists were Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

It is the Redskins' sixth award in a row, spanning Weeks 11-16. It is the team's 10th award this season, with Griffin III (seven), Morris (two) and Kirk Cousins each winning awards.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year honors.

Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January.  The NFL Rookie of the Week will be announced at the second annual "NFL Honors" awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.
