Linebacker Robert Henson is out to prove that he can stay healthy and make an impact on the Redskins' defense.

"I know I can play in this league," Henson said during the 2010 season. "It's a matter of taking advantage of my opportunities."

A candidate to make the 53-man roster last year, Henson injured his knee in the Redskins' final preseason game against Arizona.

He eventually landed on injured reserve, ending his season before it ever really began.

Henson had been a force at inside linebacker in the Cardinals game, posting seven tackles and a sack in the first half.

"He made a bunch of plays," head coach Mike Shanahan said. "He was all over the field."

Henson suffered the knee injury early in the second half. He thought it was minor, but it ended up sidelining him for the entire season.

"A guy in my position couldn't afford to be hurt," Henson admitted after the game. "I was kind of emotional about it, because I felt like I had to make plays [to earn a roster spot]."

Drafted by the Redskins in the sixth round (186th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft, Henson is expected to get another look at inside linebacker and special teams this year. He is fully healthy.

Henson plays with a high motor and at TCU he showed a knack for pressuring quarterbacks and forcing turnovers.

During his four years in college, Henson totaled four sacks and five takeaways, including two that he returned for touchdowns.
