Inaugural Sack Cancer Gala A Success

The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, led by Dan and Tanya Snyder, and the American Cancer Society Friday evening hosted the inaugural Sack Cancer Gala at the Ritz-Carlton in McLean, Va.

With an estimated 500 attendees, the goal of the Sack Cancer Gala is to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research and services for the American Cancer Society, which is leading the way in transforming breast cancer research from deadly to treatable and from treatable to preventable.

Joining the Snyders -- who are honorary chairs for the event -- Friday were special guests Donald Hoffman (President and CEO of Excel Services Corporation; Board of Ambassadors Chair), Robert G. Hisaoka (President of RRR, LLC and Chairman of Carsquare; Honoree), Chris Cooley (Redskins alumnus and ESPN 980 radio personality; honoree) and Redskins alumni Kenny Houston, Darrel Green, Sonny Jurgensen and Jeff Bostic.

Also in attendance were current Redskins Stephen Bowen, Kirk Cousins, Robert Griffin III, Adam Hayward and Nick Sundberg, as well as President/general manager Bruce Allen, head coach Jay Gruden and many other members of the team's coaching staff.

Women of Washington Redskins (WOW!) was represented at the event by WOW Wives Mrs. Snyder, Sherry Gruden and Kiersten Allen.

The Sack Cancer Gala is one of several initiatives the Washington Redskins and its players will embark upon during the month of October in support of the NFL and American Cancer Society's Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, which promotes the importance of early detection and awareness, and reinforces mammography as the key to early detection.
