Former Redskins wide receiver James Thrash is continuing his player development efforts in the NFL.
The league and the NFL Player's Association announced Monday that he will serve as an appeals officer for on-field player discipline beginning this season, joining Pro Football Hall Of Famer Derrick Brooks in the same position.
The two of them will be independent arbitrators for any appeal regarding violations ranging from wearing improper apparrel to defenseless hits on players.
After finishing his 12-year career, Thrash returned to the Redskins in a player development role, helping coordinate an internship program for players as well as working with players and their families on financial programs and continuing education intitiatives.
More recently, Thrash shifted his efforts to serving current and former players as part of the NFL Player engagement staff.
In nine seasons with the Redskins, Thrash accumulated over 1,500 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while also being a key contributor on the special teams unit.
