10th NFL Season/6th Redskins

Jim Zeches enters his 10th season in the National Football League and sixth as an area scout with the Redskins.

Prior to joining the Redskins in 2005, he spent the four preceding seasons in the same capacity with the San Francisco 49ers.

Zeches brings 28 years of coaching experience to his front office role. He joined the 49ers staff in 2001 after spending 12 years in various positions at Washington State University. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he served as the recruiting coordinator for the Cougars during the last seven years of his tenure. He originally joined Washington State's staff in 1989 as defensive line coach. He also coached the outside linebackers from 1991-98, and coached the tight ends in his final two seasons with the Cougars.

A Los Angeles native, Zeches earned two varsity letters while playing center at Cal-State Northridge (1971-72). Following five years of coaching preps, Zeches served as a graduate assistant at UCLA from 1978-80 under Terry Donahue. He joined head coach Dennis Green's staff at Northwestern in 1981, coaching the defensive line until 1986. In 1987, Zeches coached the inside linebackers at Weber State.

Zeches and his wife, Kathy, have a son, Brian.
