On how they played on special teams against Atlanta:
"Special teams was exceptional. We had very good kickoff coverage and our return was excellent. I thought Rock (Cartwright, RB, #31) did a terrific job. Derrick (Frost, P, #4) did a very good job of punting. We had three balls down inside the 20. Our punt protection was very good knowing they were going to come from the week before. We had a punt block at the end of the game. Guys were playing hard all the way into the fourth quarter. Our PAT's and field goals were excellent. We had no penalties. Our starting yard line was the 33 and theirs was the 21. Our biggest concerns were the hang times on kickoffs and that we missed a field goal."
On how they played defensively against Atlanta:
"We started extremely well. We allowed 113 yards of total passing. We had one sack in 16 attempts and played very well in two four minute drives. Late in the game we got the ball back very quick and we did a good job with zero penalties. The problem, defensively, for us is kind of parallel to what happened to us on offense. We gave up four explosion plays, two of those for touchdowns. Again it was big plays and we gave up 256 yards rushing. That is a tough thing for us to overcome."
On how they played offensively against the Falcons:
"We started extremely strong. We played physical and hard. We controlled the line of scrimmage. We had 178 yards rushing with over a five yard average. We had a very good two minute drive late in the game. Jason (Campbell, QB, #17) took us 79 yards. We had no fumbles and won the time of possession. Our first two drives were textbook. We had a 69 yard drive and a 70 yard drive. Our negatives were that we had three penalties and two turnovers. If we turn the ball over on offense and don't get it on defense and they out rush us, we know we will be in real trouble. The biggest thing for us was that we didn't finish the ball game."
On the game in general:
"We played into the third quarter with the upper hand but we didn't finish. That goes both ways with the offense and defense. Teams had a good steady tempo all day long but on defense we let them have four big plays and on offense we did not finish drives, score points and we turned the ball over twice. It is all of us. We have been inconsistent. Last week we finished and played hard all the way. This week we played into the third quarter and we can't finish the ball game."
On if he feels they stuck with the game plan:
"I felt like we staked out what we wanted to try and do and I felt like we tried to stay with it. When you get some big plays against you and you get behind obviously, you will lean more towards moving the ball by throwing the football."
On the play being so different from the first half to the second half:
"It has been hard for us to figure out. Our team has been inconsistent too in that we have tried to play two games back to back and we have had a tough time with that. We all talked about that and a lot of that starts with me. I am aware of it and our team is aware of it. We haven't been able to do anything about it. Whether it is in this game you get a comfort going ahead 14-0, the first two drives are text book and you feel this will be something you can continue with and walk away with it, I don't know. This has been our problem. Our problem has been the second half, not being able to play consistent football and not being able to put two games together back to back."
On running back Ladell Betts (#46):
"Ladell has had a great two weeks. We were at 178 yards rushing and he had 155 yards rushing. That's a pretty awesome performance. In the last six weeks against Atlanta, a team had 140 yards and one had 127 against this team and there were some good football teams in there. I thought we were going to have a tough time controlling the line of scrimmage. Ladell was a big part of that as well as our offensive line."
On Ladell Betts (RB, #46) being a free agent at the end of the year and if he thinks they will resign him:
"Ladell can do a lot of other things for you on your football team. He has been our upback on special teams. He has run back kicks for us. He is a multi-talented guy. It has been proven this year that you need more than one running back. They (Clinton Portis, RB, #26 and Ladell) are a great compliment to each other, they really like each other and I think Ladell likes being here."
On not being able to have a winning season and if he feels they are back to where they were two years ago:
"We have to wait and finish the year out. I am curious to see how we finish because I think that will have a lot to say about the way people look at us and the way we feel about ourselves. In other years that I have had struggles, the first year I went 8-8 and got hot at the end of the year. I felt like the way we finished that portion of the year led us towards the next year. That has happened to me more than once. I want to see how we finish the year. I would say that definitely after last year that we were looking to keep the momentum."
