Jordan Reed was dominant on the field during the 2015 season and his peers knew it. On Wednesday, Reed was ranked the 77th-best player in the league.
Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has some familiar company on the "NFL Top 100 Players of 2016" list.
One week after Cousins was named as the No. 85 player on the Top 100, his favorite target is joining him, as Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has been announced as the No. 77 player on the annual list, which is selected based on current player vote.
This is Reed's first appearance on the Top 100.
Reed last season pieced together one of the best seasons by a tight end in recent history, as the University of Florida product hauled in 87 receptions for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games.
Leading the Redskins in all three statistical categories, Reed became the first tight end for the franchise to come out on top of all three receiving marks since Jean Fugett did so in 1978.
Additionally, his receptions and yardage production were the most by a tight end in Redskins history, breaking the benchmarks set by Chris Cooley.
Reed started out the season by grabbing seven receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown on Opening Day against the Miami Dolphins.
He followed up the Week 1 performance with back-to-back six-reception games with at least 80 receiving yards the next two games.
In Week 7, Reed was a difference maker in an improbable comeback victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Redskins were in a 24-0 hole midway through the second quarter before slowing clawing their way back in the second half.
After Reed grabbed a three-yard touchdown score in the third quarter, he recorded the game-tying touchdown reception in the final minute of what would become a 31-30 victory.
The game showcased his talents and ability to excel, regardless of what defenses are throwing his way.

"He's a great route-runner in the zone. When they play man, we like the match-up," Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said after the game. "He did a good job of winning man-to-man match-ups, whether it's under routes or slant routes, like he did at the end of the game. We feel like it's a tough deal for a defensive coordinator and defenses to deal with him. And you can see what type of impact he has on our offense when we are rolling."
The offense would continue to roll with Reed as the focal point of the passing attack.
Three weeks after his breakout game against the Buccaneers, Reed once again stood in a class of his own on the field, as he hauled in two touchdown receptions in a 47-14 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 15.
As the Redskins got stronger down the stretch, so too did Reed. In the final four games of the regular season – all victories for Washington – the 6-foot-3, 237 pounder totaled 29 receptions for 378 yards and five touchdowns.
His dominance spilled over into the Redskins' Wild Card Round matchup with the Green Bay Packers, as he caught nine passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.
Reed recently signed a multi-year contract extension with the Redskins, ensuring he'll remain a centerpiece in Washington's offense for years to come.
"It means a lot that the Redskins invested that kind of money into me and think that highly of me as a player and as a person," Reed said earlier this month. "That means a lot to me. I'm going to show them that they made a good investment, and I'm going to prove them right in making me one of the highest paid."
