Inspired by his NFL peers, and never one to back down from a challenge, Redskins cornerback Josh Norman will be taking his precise footwork, hand placement skills and flair for the dramatic to ABC on Mondays to compete on "Dancing With The Stars."

The show's 26th season, which is scheduled to begin April 30, is a special "Athletes Only" version, where Norman will match up against athletes such as Tonya Harding, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Jennie Finch, Johnny Damon and Adam Rippon, among others.

Norman, the only football player competing in this group, will be dancing with Sharna Burgess, who danced with Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown last year. Historically, football players, current and retired, have finished well on the show. Previous winners have included Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, Donald Driver and Rashad Jennings with Jerry Rice, Calvin Johnson and several others finishing in second.

Understandably, Norman was an ideal pick considering his on-field demeanor and playing style and general gregarious personality under the lights.

"Josh is a total lose cannon!" a source told Entertainment Tonight about the announcement. "No one ever knows what's going to come out of his mouth! He's really funny and competitive and loves the camera."

"If he doesn't agree with a score the judges give him, you can definitely expect him to share a piece of his mind," the source added. "He's going to be a lot of fun to watch this season."

Norman is entering his seventh season with the Redskins. Let's see if he can get off to a winning start.
