Lifelong Redskins Fan Overcame Cancer, Now Playing For A National Title

Thankful for all the forced pictures. Happy Mother's Day

There are many fans rooting on the Redskins this coming 2016 season, however there is one particular fan who stands out from the rest.

Brett Bedard, a communications major at the University of North Carolina, plays for the university's lacrosse program, currently in the NCCA title game scheduled to take place on Monday. The Annapolis, Md., native just happens to be a lifelong Redskins fanatic.

Early in his life, Bedard was diagnosed with cancer and took part in the Make-A-Wish Foundation during his childhood, when he wished to visit Redskins Park.

His experience seemed to be a terrific one – he eventually beat the disease – and he documented those moments in numerous Instagram posts. In one certain post, Bedard captioned, "I can't wait to watch the team [Redskins] that saved my life." It is clear the Washington Redskins mean a lot to Bedard as another post includes him showing off a Redskins tattoo with the year 1999, the year his dream came true.

Bedard and the Tar Heels defeated Loyola (Md.) 18-13 in the Final Four matchup on Saturday and will face either Maryland or Brown in the National Championship game on Monday. Fortunately enough for UNC fans and alumni, both men's and women's lacrosse teams are advancing to their own respective National Championship games.

You like that.

Bedard is a fighter, and that trait may have spread to his teammates as UNC has fought through adversity, being an underdog in every tournament game thus far.

Overall, it is a great time in Bedard's life; he gets to compete for a championship and gets to watch his favorite organization prepare to do the same.
