The Redskins announced Wednesday that restricted free agent Andre Lott has signed his contracts for the 2005 season. The team had tendered Lott a contract offer in early March.

In three seasons as a Redskin, Lott has provided depth in the secondary and has been a strong performer on special teams.

Lott came on in preseason last year, impressing assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams and earning a starting nod on opening day ahead of then-rookie Sean Taylor.

Lott appeared in four games with three starts for the Redskins in 2004 before being placed on injured reserve with a pectoral tear.

During his career, Lott has played in 31 games, posting 28 tackles (17 solo) with one sack.

Lott was originally selected by Washington in the fifth round (159th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft after a stellar career at Tennessee.

With Lott signed, quarterback Tim Hasselbeck is the last remaining restricted free agent yet to sign his tender. That is expected to be a formality, however.

Hasselbeck, who has been at Redskins Park this week after missing the initial phase of voluntary workouts due to the birth of his child, is not expected to receive an offer from another team. Today is the deadline for teams to make offers to restricted free agents.
