Mason, Eubanks Among 14 Players Signed

The Redskins have signed 14 players to the club's off-season roster, the team has announced.

Two of the players signed spent time on the Redskins' roster in 2007: running back Marcus Mason and cornerback John Eubanks. Both ended the season on the practice squad.

Also included in the group are four more players who were on the practice squad last season: defensive end Tommy Davis, wide receiver Burl Toler, linebacker Danny Verdun-Wheeler and cornerback Byron Westbrook.

Players who finish a season on a team's practice squad become unrestricted free agents.

Here's a look at each of the players signed:

Tommy Davis, DE

Davis, a 6-2, 257-pound speed rusher, signed with the Redskins' practice squad on Dec. 19, 2007. He originally entered the NFL with the New York Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent. He played his college ball at North Carolina.

John Eubanks, CB

Eubanks played in six games for the Redskins last season--mostly on special teams--after being promoted from the practice squad. He finished the season recording seven tackles. He suffered a foot injury in mid-December and was later put back on the practice squad. Eubanks originally signed with the Redskins in 2006 as an undrafted free agent. He played his college ball at Southern Mississippi.

Cedrick Holt, CB

Holt spent the 2007 training camp with the Indianapolis Colts, but he was released prior to the start of the regular season. The 5-11, 171-pounder originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2006. He played his college ball at North Carolina.

Kevin Huntley, DE

Huntley is a 6-7, 270-pound lineman who spent last season with the Atlanta Falcons, logging three tackles in five games. He entered the NFL in 2005 with the Oakland Raiders and a year later he played in six games and had 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He played college ball at Kansas State and grew up in Washington, D.C.

Eddie Jackson, DB

Jackson is a 4-year NFL veteran who played in three games with the New England Patriots last year. He has also had stints with Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers. Overall, he has played in 42 games, recording 41 tackles. The 6-0, 200-pound played his college ball at Arkansas.

Maurice Mann, WR

Mann spent the 2007 training camp with the Cleveland Browns, but he was released prior to the start of the regular season. The 6-1, 190-pounder has also had NFL stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins. He played his college ball at Nevada.

Marcus Mason, RB

Mason earned a roster spot with the Redskins coming out of training camp. He was later placed on the team's practice squad. A product of Youngstown State and Georgetown Prep in Maryland, he finished his collegiate career with 2,739 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns.

Billy McMullen, WR

McMullen was last in the NFL in 2006 with the Minnesota Vikings, where he played in 16 games and caught 23 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Previously, McMullen was with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2003-05. A third-round draft choice of the Eagles in 2003, he played in 29 games with the Eagles and caught 22 passes for 294 yards and one touchdown in three seasons. McMullen, 6-4 and 215 pounds, played his college ball at Virginia.

Eric Shelton, RB

Shelton was with the Carolina Panthers from 2005-06, playing in nine games and recording eight carries for 23 yards and one catch for six yards. At 6-1 and 246 pounds, Shelton is a big, bruising running back, drafted in the second round by the Panthers in 2005. He played his college ball at Louisville.

Burl Toler, WR

Toler was with the Redskins in 2007 training camp and spent part of last season on the Redskins' practice squad. The 6-2, 185-pounder played in NFL Europa in spring 2007. He originally entered the NFL with the Oakland Raiders in May of 2006. He played his college ball at California.

Danny Verdun-Wheeler, LB

Verdun-Wheeler, a 6-2, 244-pounder, signed with the Redskins in December 2007. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Chicago Bears. He played his college ball at the University of Georgia.

Rian Wallace, LB

Wallace was previously with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2005-06. He played in 16 games in two seasons, recording nine tackles and one interception that he returned 30 yards for a touchdown. Wallace, 6-3 and 243 pounds, was a fifth-round draft choice by the Steelers in 2005. He played his college ball at Temple.

Tavares Washington, OL

Washington is a 6-3, 320-pound offensive tackle who was previously with the San Francisco 49ers in 2006. He played college football at the University of Florida.

Byron Westbrook, CB

Westbrook signed with the Redskins in May 2007 as an undrafted rookie free agent. He spent last season on the practice squad and mimicked his brother Brian on the scout team in preparation for games against the Philadelphia Eagles. The 5-10, 194-pounder played his college ball at Salisbury. He is a Washington, D.C. native.
