Rob Kelley visited Florida's Pro Day on Thursday and caught up with the local media to give a taste of what his past season with the Redskins was like as well as share thoughts on some of the Gators' draft prospects.
The third round selection told Sports Talk Florida that his first year went "very smooth" and that he knows there is room for improvement.
With the departure of running back Alfred Morris, who recently signed with the Cowboys, Jones is grateful he had his first year with the veteran by his side.
"He taught me everything I know," Jones said. "Since Day 1 that I got there, he taught me everything. He taught me how to run, he taught me how to be patient, he taught me how to not be so fast. That's the kind of guy I would love to be around because he has [nothing negative] to say about [anything]. He taught me everything, everything about the league, everything about vets, being a vet -- he's a great guy all-around."
Jones finished his first year rushing for 490 yards on 144 carries along with 704 total yards and four touchdowns. With the running back room now without last season's starter, Jones could see significantly more time in the backfield in 2016.
"I learned that you have to take some time out and really put your time into the game, to be a student of the game and see how you're running and see how everything is working outside of football," he said. "I feel like I have some little things I have to work on, like getting my pads lower, and stuff like that. It's just little stuff that you learn that can be so big to you the next time you go out there."
