NFL Rookie of the Week: Alfred Morris

Redskins fans have done it again, as voters on NFL.com have selected running back Alfred Morris as the NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 15.

Morris rushed for 122 yards on 23 carries and scored one touchdown in the Redskins' 31-28 overtime win against the Baltimore Ravens.

Morris keyed the Redskins' first two touchdowns, rushing for 46 yards on five carries on the first drive.  On the second drive, he scored his seventh rushing touchdown of the season.

The 100-yard rushing game was Morris' sixth of the season, marking the most 100-yard rushing games in a season by a Redskin since 2008 (Clinton Portis – six).

The last 12 players to rush for 100 yards in a game for the Redskins have all been rookies, including one by fellow rookie Robert Griffin III this season.

Morris (1,228) and Griffin III (748) have combined for 1,976 rushing yards, the most by rookies on any team since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.

Morris received his 236th carry of the season in the first quarter, breaking the Redskins' record for rushing attempts in a rookie season. The previous record was held by Mike Thomas, who had 235 carries in 1975.

Morris was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies.  The other finalists were Cleveland Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith and New York Giants running back David Wilson.

This is the Redskins' eighth Rookie of the Week award this season and second honor bestowed on Morris in his third nomination.  The Redskins are winners of four-straight awards, with the other three going to Robert Griffin III.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for NFL Rookie of the Year honors.  Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January.

NFL Never Say Never Moment of the Week: Kirk Cousins's Comeback

Redskins rookie QB Kirk Cousins stepped in and helped complete the Redskins 31-28 comeback win in overtime against the Baltimore Ravens.  His effort earned them the NFL Never Say Never Moment of the Week for Week 14 games.

The NFL Never Say Never Moment of the Week is the best moment or play of the week that represents determination and perseverance.

As he was marching the Redskins down the field in an attempt to tie up the game in the final minute against the Baltimore Ravens, rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III was injured on a scramble and had to leave the game.

Rookie backup quarterback Kirk Cousins entered the game and picked up where RGII left off, hitting WR Pierre Garcon for a touchdown and then forcing overtime on a run play on the two-point conversion.

In overtime, kicker Kai Forbath booted a 34-yard field goal to provide the Redskins with their fourth-consecutive win.

Cousins completes comeback victory was selected from among three moments by voters on NFL.com/gmc.  The other two moments were Dallas Cowboys rally for emotional win and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles's last-second touchdown ends Eagles' skid.

After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the NFL Never Say Never Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners.  Fans can vote for the winner and enter for a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLVII on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January.
