Joe Gibbs said on Monday that he met with wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, who was deactivated for the Jets game after he missed a meeting last week.
"Brandon and I talked things over and we will go back to work on Wednesday," Gibbs said.
Since joining the Redskins in 2006, Lloyd has struggled to make an impact in the passing game. He caught 23 passes for 365 yards last year.
This season, he has served in a reserve role. He has grabbed two passes for 14 yards.
Asked about Lloyd's production, Gibbs replied: "I think that's been a question certainly for all of us. I think Brandon wants to be more productive than what's happened. It hasn't happened for us. We have to continue to work at that.
"We have a big investment in him. We think he can be more productive and we just have to get it done. In this case it an incident where he missed a meeting. I felt that [deactivating Lloyd] was the best option for us to take."
Said Gibbs: "We are certainly going to continue to give Brandon the opportunities to be productive. Up here you have to earn it. Hopefully this will be the last instance we have like this, and we can move along and get on down the road with it." -- SMOOT RE-INJURES HAMSTRING
Cornerback Fred Smoot aggravated his injured hamstring in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game.
He continued to play the rest of the game--"I was able to tough it out," he said--but his status for practice this week is uncertain.
Smoot said on Monday that he expects to play next Sunday against the Eagles, even if he misses practice all week.
"It makes it hard not to practice, but I have to do what I have to do to stay healthy," he said.
If Smoot can't play, second-year cornerback Leigh Torrence would likely start in his place. It would be Torrence's first career start.
"I have a lot of faith in Leigh. No matter what situation he has been put in, he went in and played hard. I have a lot of confidence in him that he can go out there and play four quarters. -- CAMPBELL AND THE DEEP BALL
Jason Campbell was still disappointed on Monday that he overthrew Santana Moss on a deep pass in overtime. Moss had a step on his defender, but the ball was out of reach.
No matter. The Redskins' drive continued downfield and Shaun Suisham kicked a 46-yard game-winning field goal.
Asked about the Moss throw, Campbell said it was "heartbreaking" to miss that pass.
"I saw that one and I was headed to the tunnel," he said. "I thought it would be a touchdown."
He added: "We're at the midseason point now and we're really trying to hit a lot of deep balls. The last couple of weeks, teams haven't been giving us a lot of deep balls, so we're going to work our way back up to it and continue to push it."
