My Cause My Cleats - Adrian Peterson

PETERSON-2560x1440

Bullying is a common problem, and not one that NFL players are immune to experiencing. Running back Adrian Peterson has seen it in his own life, and has learned to help his kids through any possible encounters with bullying in school. Even before having children, the Redskins tailback has always been one to step in when seeing the mistreatment of others, believing there is never a time to be a bystander.

"Some people, they can't take up for themselves unfortunately," Peterson said. "Half the time, there's no need and no reason for the bullying to be taking place in the first place. So for me, it was important to have this voice to talk about it more, be on the forefront of it."

Hoping to continue to raise awareness on the subject, Peterson has teamed up with Johnson Middle School in Washington D.C., having students submit words and phrases of encouragement such as "stand up", "speak out" and "respect" to be put on his cleats. After the game, the cleats will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Adrian Peterson Foundation.

"Just being able to speak on it, that in itself does a lot as well," Peterson said.
