The American Diabetes Association's mission is to help prevent and cure diabetes by funding research and spreading awareness. Redskins safety Deshazor Everett has the same goal, which is why the two are partnering up for this year's "My Cause My Cleats".

With his mother having diabetes, Everett has become more aware of the disease and its implications since her diagnosis. Seeing the struggles she faces on a daily basis, he's hoping to not only make more people aware of the common disease, but encourage everyone to remain active and maintain a healthy diet.

"It's something that you have to be aware of, even someone like myself since it's a family trait," Everett said. "Something that I have to be more cautious about, try to stay active."
