Check out notes on new Washington Redskins quarterback Nate Sudfeld, the No. 187 pick in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, courtesy of Redskins Public Relations.

  • Sudfeld is the 15th selection in the tenure of General Manager Scot McCloughan and the 23rd selection of the Jay Gruden era.
  • Sudfeld is the 454th selection made by the Redskins in the Common Draft era (since 1967) and the 54th sixth-round selection in that time frame. He is the 80th sixth-round selection by the Redskins all-time since the institution of the draft in 1936.
  • Sudfeld is the fourth played selected by the Redskins with the No. 187 pick all-time, joining T Marv Berschet (1952), G Melvin Jones (1980) and WR Evan Spencer (2015).
  • Sudfeld's selection marks the second consecutive draft in which the Redskins have selected a player at No. 187 overall.
  • Sudfeld is the 12th player from Indiana selected by the Redskins all-time, joining B Chick Jagade (1948), B Nick Sebek (1949), G Cas Witucki (1950), T Harry Jagielski (1954), E Brad Bomba (1957), G-LB Don Croftcheck (1965), LB Stu O'Dell (1974), DB Quinn Buckner (1976), QB Babe Laufenberg (1983), QB Gibran Hamdan (2003) and TE Rob Bolser (2014).
  • Including Sudfeld, three of the Redskins' last four selections from Indiana have been quarterbacks.
  • Sudfeld is the first quarterback selected by the Redskins since drafting Kirk Cousins with the No. 102 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
  • Sudfeld is the first quarterback selected by the Redskins in the sixth round or later since the team selected Colt Brennan in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
  • Sudfeld's selection at No. 187 matches the selection at which Green Bay drafted quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (No. 187 in 1998) during current Redskins General Manager Scot McCloughan's tenure as an area scout with the Packers.
