Football were announced. After a week of intense auditions that began at FedExField on April 6th, 16 Rookies made the cut to join 22 returning Veterans, who also re-auditioned for their spots on the team. Following hearing her number called, Rookie Ashley E. (pictured right) said, "This is by far one of the most exciting moments of my life! My dream of being a Washington Redskins Cheerleader has come true and I couldn't be more proud to be surrounded by such humble, intelligent, beautiful, and fierce women! It is truly a blessing and I thank God for giving me this amazing opportunity!"

Amanda C., who made the team after spending last season as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader Ambassador, said "A moment that I will never forget is seeing my parents and husband jump out of their seats in surprise and excitement when my number was announced at Final Auditions - I was flooded with emotion! After spending the last year as an Ambassador, I have witnessed the incredible qualities that these ladies exemplify on and off the field.  It is such a privilege for me to be given the opportunity to be a positive role model for young women, give back to our community and those who serve our country, and cheer on the Burgundy and Gold!"

This years Rookies come from all over, including Arizona, Florida, and even Japan! The full list of names, as well as their year on the team can be found below. Stay tuned to redskins.com for full bios and more photos of the new team.

The audition process is no free pass for the Veterans, as Lindsey (pictured left) shared this with us. "I am just as excited and honored to start my fourth year as much as I was for my rookie season. It is a relief that the audition process is over, as there is a lot of pressure for all of us to make the team. We as Vets are expected to hold the standard the past First Ladies of Football have set. But that is part of what keeps this team growing and becoming better each year. I am so thrilled to be back and excited about what my new teammates can bring to this team. With the mix of Vets, Rookies, talent, and beauty this will surely be the best team yet! It is going to be another amazing season cheering on our 2012 NFC East Champions!"

The new squad has already begun rehearsing for their debut performance on April 27th, at the Draft Day Party at FedExField. Fans will also have the chance to get autographs and photos of the ladies at their first and only full team signing, on the Club Level during the event. Congratulations to this incredibly talented team and we look forward to seeing them on sidelines all season long! Hail to the Redskins!
