The Redskins have signed offensive lineman Donovan Raiola, the team announced on Saturday.

In addition, the Redskins released three players in linebacker Robert Henson, nose tackle Joe Joseph and undrafted rookie linebacker Kyle O'Donnell.

Raiola, 6-2 and 293 pounds, joins the Redskins after NFL stints with six teams, most recently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He signed with the Buccaneers in the 2010 offseason and played in all four of the club's preseason games. He was released after preseason, but rejoined the team in December and played in one game. It was the first NFL action of his career.

Raiola has also played for the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers. He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the St. Louis Rams.

Raiola played college football at Wisconsin, where he started 39 games for the Badgers and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors each of his last three years.

A native of Hawaii, Raiola is the younger brother of Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola.

Of the three players released, the most notable was Henson, a 2009 sixth-round draft choice by the Redskins.

Henson flashed talent at times. He played in six games in 2009 and had two tackles on defense.

Last year, Henson was a standout in the Redskins' preseason finale, posting seven tackles and a sack in a half of action, but he suffered a knee ligament injury and was placed on injured reserve.

He entered Redskins training camp this year still recovering from the injury. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list until Saturday when the team decided to release him.

Joseph, a first-year player, signed with the Redskins midway through last season to provide depth at nose tackle. He played in one game but did not record a tackle.
