Redskins Announce $200,000 Contribution to Hall of Famers Art Monk, Darrell Green

Washington Redskins Owner Daniel M. Snyder today announced contributions from the Redskins and the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation of $200,000 in connection with the induction of Art Monk and Darrell Green into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year.

The contributions will help fund celebrations to be held in Canton, Ohio surrounding the Hall of Fame ceremony, and will also benefit the charitable foundations of both Monk and Green.

"Along with their many Redskins fans, we are looking forward to sharing in the celebration for both Art and Darrell," Snyder said. "The Hall of Fame weekend honors their accomplishments on and off the field. We encourage all Redskins fans to support them and their foundations in what will be a memorable and historical time for the franchise."

Monk and Green are both slated for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 2, in Canton, Ohio.

On Sunday, Aug. 3, the Redskins will play the Indianapolis Colts in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. Kickoff is 8 p.m. ET on NBC. This marks the fifth time in franchise history the Redskins will play in the Hall of Fame Game. Washington owns a perfect 4-0 record in Hall of Fame Games.

Monk and Green have launched the "Route 281 Tour" to coincide with their Hall of Fame induction. The "Route 281 Tour" features appearances by Monk and Green and includes stops in eight cities.

The tour concludes with a Grand Gala at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in Prince George's County, MD, on Saturday, September 6. Proceeds will benefit the Hilaron Foundation, established to raise funds for The Good Samaritan Foundation and Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation.

Descriptions of each foundation are as follows:

The mission of the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation is to help children develop into leaders who positively influence their families and communities. The foundation achieves its mission through the Darrell Green Learning Centers which provide services that nurture the child, strengthen the family and rebuild the community.

The mission of The Good Samaritan Foundation is based on the strong commitment of its founders to "Prepare Youth for Leadership in the Community and the Workplace." This mission is achieved through the Student Training Opportunity Program (STOP), which provides youth with the environment needed to equip them with the skills, training and resources necessary to compete successfully in society.
