LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have promoted Zena Lewis to Director of Communications and hired Sean DeBarbieri as Media Services Coordinator.
Lewis is entering his fourth season with the Washington Redskins after joining the organization during the 2015 offseason. He has been responsible for providing the media scheduling, promotional efforts, counsel and media training surrounding the Redskins players. His various roles included assisting with the drafting and editing of media materials, game releases, media guides, game notes and season in reviews. In February of 2018, Lewis provided communications assistance for the NFL during the week of Super Bowl LII.
Prior to joining the Redskins, Lewis contributed to the game day press operations of the Tennessee Titans (2009- 10), Detroit Lions (2011), Miami Dolphins (2012 preseason) and Atlanta Falcons (2012-14).
With more than a decade of experience at the collegiate level, Lewis served as the Assistant Commissioner for Communications & New Media at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in Atlanta. His background also includes public relations experience with the Southwestern Athletic Conference, the University of Michigan, Tennessee State University, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Clark Atlanta University. A native of Brooklyn, Lewis earned his degree from Florida A&M University.
Lewis will fill the role Ross Taylor held with the Redskins, as Taylor will be joining Clemson University as Assistant Athletic Director of Football Communications this upcoming season.
DeBarbieri joins the Redskins with more than five combined years of professional and collegiate sports public relations experience. During the 2017 season, he served as an intern with the Los Angeles Rams. Prior to his stint with the Rams, DeBarbieri was a member of the New York Giants 2016 internship class and assisted the communications staff in all capacities after serving as a training camp intern with the organization the previous year. His background also includes three years interning for the Sports Information Department at Rutgers University.
DeBarbieri is a native of New Jersey. He earned his degree in sports management from Rutgers University.
