Redskins-Cardinals: Just The Touchdowns

The Washington Redskins on Sunday just couldn't make all the big plays it needed in its 30-20 loss on the road to the Arizona Cardinals at University Of Phoenix Stadium.

But Washington – which fell to 1-5 with the loss – did make a couple splash plays offensively.

When it came to finding the end zone on Sunday, the Redskins netted one touchdown on a spectacular passing play from quarterback Kirk Cousins to DeSean Jackson, and then, in desperation mode, saw Cousins find wide receiver Pierre Garçon for a five-yard score late in the game.

For a full recap, let's take a look back at the action as it happened:

No. 1: DeSean Jackson Turns On The Burners

In the second quarter with 14:19 left, the Redskins faced a 2nd and 20 with the play clock ticking dangerously close to zero.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins, lined up in the pistol formation with running back Roy Helu Jr. to his left, took the snap, executed a three-step drop and looked to his right and threaded the needle to Jackson, who ran a perfect slant route and beat his initial defender, cornerback Patrick Peterson.

All Jackson had to do from there was turn on the burners, and 64 yards later he was in the end zone to tie the game at 7 apiece.

Jackson – who now has 20 total touchdowns covering 50 yards or more since entering the league in 2008, the most in the NFL – passed teammate Santana Moss for sole possession of the 10th-most total touchdowns of 50 yards or more in the NFL since the 1970 merger.

He joins Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Steve Smith, Joey Galloway, Ken Burrough, Devin Hester, Mel Gray and Stanley Morgan as the only players to score 20 total touchdowns of 50 yards or more since the merger.

No. 2 Garçon Gets It In Late

The Redskins were officially in desperation mode, down 10, 23-13, with 5:55 left in Sunday's game when Cousins and the Washington offense took over at their own 11.

Just three plays and a couple penalties later, however, the Redskins conveniently found themselves knocking on the door of the end zone at the Arizona five-yard line.

With 2:20 left in the game, Cousins, lined up in the shotgun, quickly found Garçon – the league's reigning leader in catches – to his right, who made the easy catch and score in the end zone.

After the extra point, the Redskins had pulled to within 3 at 23-20, but that would be as close as the team would get the rest of the way.

That touchdown catch for Garçon, meanwhile, was his second of the season and the 27th of his career.
