Redskins, Collins Agree to Contract Terms

The Washington Redskins announced Feb. 29 that they have agreed to terms with quarterback Todd Collins. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Collins, 6-4, 225 pounds, spent the last two seasons with the Redskins. He stepped in for an injured Jason Campbell in Week 14 against the Chicago Bears.

Collins went 15-of-20 for 224 yards and two touchdowns against the Bears earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week. He led Washington to four consecutive victories and a playoff berth, finishing the season 67-of-105 for 888 yards, five touchdowns, no interceptions and a 106.4 quarterback rating.

Collins originally entered the league as a second round draft choice (45th overall) of the Buffalo Bills in the 1995 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Bills before joining the Chiefs in 1998.

During his career, he has appeared in 44 games with 20 starts and completed 359-of-651 passes for 4,335 yards, 22 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

A former Michigan Wolverine, Collins finished his college career with the best career (64.3 percent) and single-season (65.3 percent in 1993) completion percentage in school history. He completed 457 passes on 711 attempts, good for 5,858 yards, 34 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
