Redskins.com Wins Best Multimedia Award

Redskins.com has won the Best Multimedia web site award from the NFL Internet Network.

The award was announced at the NFL Business Summit in Dallas on Tuesday, April 11.

Larry Michael, senior vice president/executive producer of media, and Jason Baum, vice president of innovation and partner marketing, accepted the award.

"We are extremely happy to be recognized for Redskins.com TV in its first year of existence," Michael said. "Most importantly, we hope fans are equally as happy with the content we deliver on a daily basis."

During the last year, the Redskins have launched Redskins.com TV to provide fans with unprecedented audio and video coverage of the team, including one-on-one interviews with owner Daniel M. Snyder and head coach Joe Gibbs as well as footage of action on the practice fields at Redskins Park and on game days at FedExField and other stadiums.

Redskins.com TV broadcasts all press conferences live so fans can get an unfiltered view of media sessions at Redskins Park. Video of the press conferences are available as an archive within minutes after they have ended.

The Redskins have constructed a television studio at the team's year-round training facility in Ashburn, Va. The team had produced several television shows from there, including Redskins Generation and Redskins Late Night, both of which were available to viewers on Redskins.com TV.

In March 2006, Michael launched the Redskins Radio Webcast, an audio show broadcast live from Redskins Park at 12 noon ET daily. The show includes interviews with players, coaches and team officials, as well as a segment in which Michael answers questions from Redskins fans on ExtremeSkins.com forums and message boards.

Still operated by the fan moderators who founded the site, ExtremeSkins.com--the largest Redskins fan site on the Internet--provides fans unique views and access to the team. Representatives of Extremeskins travel to all Redskins games, posting fan-centric articles and topics. Chats with players, coaches and team officials are also featured, along with "fan view" columns.

The NFL Internet Network, comprised of web sites for all 32 NFL teams, gives out Internet awards each year.

This is the first time that Redskins.com has won an award.
