The Washington Redskins could potentially play two games in Los Angeles during the 2017 regular season.

On Tuesday evening, NFL owners approved of the Rams franchise moving from St. Louis to Los Angeles for the 2016 season.

NFL owners also gave the Chargers a one-year option to decide if they want to relocate from San Diego to Los Angeles.

"This has been the most difficult process of my professional career," Rams owner E. Stanley Kroenke said in a press release on the Rams’ website. "While we are excited about the prospect of building a new stadium in Inglewood, California, this is bittersweet. St. Louis is a city known for its incredibly hard-working, passionate and proud people. Being part of the group that brought the NFL back to St. Louis in 1995 is one of the proudest moments of my professional career. Reaching two Super Bowls and winning one are things all St. Louisans should always treasure.

2017 schedule
During the 2017 regular season, the Redskins are currently scheduled to face the NFC West and AFC West as part of the league's rotating schedule.

In their games against the NFC West, the Redskins would play the Rams in Los Angeles and the Seattle Seahawks on the road.

The Redskins would also face the Kansas City Chiefs and Chargers in their home stadiums.

Series history with L.A. Rams
The Rams called Los Angeles home from 1946-1994.

The Redskins played the Rams in Los Angeles 11 times during that span, winning seven of those games.

In the Rams' final game in Los Angeles on Dec. 24, 1994, the Redskins pulled out a 24-21 victory, highlighted by a 78-yard Brian Mitchell punt return for touchdown. Former Rams wide receiver Henry Ellard also caught five passes for 81 yards in his first game against the team he played 11 seasons with.

Chargers possibility?
With the Rams' relocation from St. Louis now official, the Redskins wrap up their series in St. Louis having played eight games at the Edward Jones Dome.

For the Chargers, meanwhile, they still have the option to stay in San Diego if they desire.

The NFL is offering the Chargers and Raiders $100 million that would go towards new stadiums in the San Diego and Oakland areas, respectfully. But the Chargers also currently have one year to decide whether or not they will re-locate to Los Angeles, and if they decline, then the Raiders will be given one year to decide whether or not to move to L.A.

The Chargers have called San Diego home since they were established in 1959.

Since 1967, Qualcomm Stadium has been the Chargers' home. The Redskins' last game there was on Jan. 3, 2010.
