Redskins Draft Linebacker Khaleke Hudson With Fifth-Round Pick

The Washington Redskins have selected linebacker Khaleke Hudson in the fifth round (No. 162 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft

Hudson (5-foot-11, 224 pounds) played in 44 games at Michigan and recorded 225 tackles, including 114 solo and 23 for a loss. He had 10 sacks in four seasons while grabbing two interceptions and deflecting 14 passes.

Hudson originally played safety and running back while attending McKeesport High School in Pennsylvania and was highly-recruited as a two-way player. Prior to accepting a college offer from Michican, he was the No. 1 athlete in Pennsylvania, according to Scout.com and won the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette High School Football Player of the Year. In his senior year alone after recording 60 tackles, 1,118 rushing yards and 219 receiving yards.

Hudson collected several honors while playing for the Wolverines. He was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree, a semifinalist for the Jason Witten College Man of the Year in 2019 and he holds a school record for most tackles for loss in a single game with eight against Minnesota. The stat also ties a single-game NCAA record.

Now that he's made it to the professional ranks, Hudson is looking to make an impact in Washington.

"I'm just a playmaker," Hudson told local media after he was drafted. "I'll put the team on my back if I have to."
