The Washington Redskins on Friday announced the signing of outside linebacker Sage Harold, a former standout at James Madison University.*
The Washington Redskins didn't go far for their newest acquisiton, signing linebacker Sage Harold, a James Madison University product, on Friday.
In a corresponding move, the team waived/injured linebacker Trevardo Williams.
Harold, a Virginia Beach, Va., native, played in 41 games for James Madison from 2011 to 2014, collecting 117 tackles (39.5 for loss), 25.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, 13 forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Harold had his best performance as a senior in 2014, when he recorded a school record 13.5 sacks and also forced six fumbles. He was selected to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team.
Harold -- who stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 245 pounds -- went undrafted out of JMU but signed with the Kansas City Chiefs May 12. He was released on Sunday.
Williams, meanwhile, could never quite get over a hamstring strain suffered near the beginning of training camp. If he clears waivers, he could be reverted to the Redskins' Injured-Reserve list.
