Redskins Re-sign C. Clemons, Scott

The Redskins announced Monday that they have re-signed linebacker Chris Clemons, an exclusive rights free agent, and wide receiver Gari Scott, an unrestricted free agent.

The Redskins had tendered Clemons an exclusive rights contract offer on March 2. Clemons signed the contract on Monday, officially rejoining the team. (Kicker Jeff Chander is also an exclusive rights free agent who was tendered a contract offer by the Redskins.)

Clemons, a 6-3 and 234-pound outside linebacker, was signed to the Redskins' active roster in November 2004. He went on to play in six games in a reserve role last year and recorded nine tackles (six solo), three sacks and one forced fumble.

Clemons previously spent the 2003 season with the Redskins on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Scott, 6-0 and 200 pounds, was signed by the Redskins in April 2004 and spent last season on the team's practice squad. Scott was originally a fourth-round (99th overall) pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2000 NFL Draft.

Scott was waived by Philadelphia in 2002 and was out of football with an ankle injury. He signed on with Green Bay in 2003 before undergoing knee surgery prior to training camp.
