Redskins Re-sign DT Matthias Askew

The Washington Redskins have announced March 21 that they have re-signed defensive tackle Matthias Askew. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Askew, 6-5, 302 pounds, was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent the 2004-05 season with the Bengals, playing in six games recording five tackles. He was waived by the Bengals in the 2006 preseason.

In 2007, he spent time in Washington during the preseason before being waived prior to the start of the regular season.

Askew played in 35 games over three seasons at Michigan State. He earned first-team All-Big Ten before entering the draft after his junior season.

The Redskins also announced March 21 that they have released wide receivers Mike Espy and Steven Harris.
