Redskins Re-sign TE Pete Schmitt

The Washington Redskins announced March 27 that they have signed tight end Pete Schmitt. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Schmitt, 6-3, 252 pounds, originally signed with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent in May 2007. He was released during the 2007 preseason.

Schmitt totaled 108 catches for 1,231 yards and 14 touchdowns during four seasons at Wisconsin-Whitewater.

As a senior, he helped lead Wisconsin-Whitewater to a second consecutive WIAC championship and to the NCAA Division III championship game.
