The COVID-19 Pandemic has put our countries resilience and strength to the test. Thankfully our frontline workers including the National Guard members at FedExField are putting their safety on the line to make sure we get through this and come out a stronger, closer community on the other side. In order to support these modern-day heroes, our nonprofit partners are participating in Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, May 5th to create a wave of generosity, citizen engagement, and philanthropy in an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
Originally scheduled for December 1st, this year's Giving Tuesday has been moved up in order to unite the community for a day of giving and hope. Redskins Salute non-profit partners such as USO-Metro, Hope for the Warriors, Wounded Warrior Project, Blue Star Families, and Operation Homefront will be participating in Giving Tuesday this year among their other initiatives to raise money for supplies and medical equipment for all of the frontline workers risking their health and safety. Learn more about how you can participate in Giving Tuesday this year as well as other COVID-19 fundraisers below!
USO-Metro is kicking off an entire month of fundraising with their #GivingTuesdayNow campaign. Starting with this day of charitable giving, they hope to raise $20,000 by the end of May to help with their COVID-19 Response Efforts corporate campaign. Giant Food is even matching all individual donations up to $10,000 to help them reach their goal in the Month of May. Hope for the Warriors
Hope for the Warriors is employing the community to help us all endure the COVID-19 pandemic not only on #GivingTuesdayNow, but every day our active-duty service members and their families suffer from self-isolation and isolating policies put in place to protect our communities. Our resilient nation is built on the shoulders of those who serve, and those that have died for, their families, their neighbors, and their country. Stand with Hope for the Warriors today by giving NOW or joining our Circle of Hope, a group of individuals like you who are committed to the ongoing support of our country's heroes
Wounded Warrior Project
The Wounded Warrior Project has shifted their annual Courage Awards and Benefit Dinner to a virtual platform in order to recognize our countries brave service members and bring some normalcy to these hard-working men and women during these crazy times. You can learn more about some of their current projects that are captured in this article: Wounded Warrior Project Virtual Workshops Empower Couples Amid Pandemic.
Blue Star Families
In order to support the 34,000 National Guard members deployed that are delivering food, helping local law enforcement, and providing healthcare to those in need, Blue Star Families is asking you to join the #HomeHaircutChallenge as part of Giving Tuesday. Over the past two months, Operation Homefront has seen a significant increase in requests for financial assistance. They are doing their best to serve those who have been there for us in our country's time of need.
