Redskins Select O-Lineman Rinehart In 3rd Round

The Washington Redskins announced April 27 that they have selected offensive tackle/guard Chad Rinehart in the third-round (96th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft.

This selection represents the Redskins fourth pick of the 2008 NFL Draft and their first of three compensatory selections.

Rinehart (6-5, 311 pounds) appeared in 40 games while at Northern Iowa with 37 starts at left tackle. He produced 369 knockdowns/key blocks, including 45 that resulted in touchdowns and 48 more that came down field.

With Rinehart manning the left tackle position, Northern Iowa ranked eleventh in the nation and second in the conference in total offense (447.4 yards-per-game average) following his senior season.

Rinehart was a consensus All-American and unanimous All-Gateway Conference first-team selection in 2007. He was also a semifinalist for the Draddy Award given to the nations' top scholar athlete.

Rinehart attended Boone High School in Iowa, earning All-State second-team honors as both a junior and senior. In addition to football, he starred for the track team, qualifying for the state finals in discus.
