Redskins Select QB Brennan In 6th Round

The Washington Redskins announced April 27 that they have selected quarterback Colt Brennan in the sixth-round (186th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft.

This selection represents the Redskins eighth pick of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Brennan (6-2, 201) owns 31 NCAA records in just three seasons at Hawaii. He set an NCAA-BCS record with his 34th consecutive game of throwing for at least 200 yards. His 20 games with at least 400 yards in total offense also set an all-time national mark.

His average of 387.9 yards per game in total offense and a pass completion of .712 are just some of the other notable marks he established in just 38 games at Hawaii.

In 2007, Brennan connected on 359-of-510 passes (70.4 percent) for 4,343 yards, 38 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 12 games.

He ranked fifth in the nation in passing efficiency (159.85), fourth in points responsible for (23 points-per-game average) and passing yards (4,343), third in total offense (364.1 yards-per-game average) and completions per game (29.9 average) and second in average yards per passing game (361.9 yards-per-game average).

He finished third in voting for the Heisman Trophy and was a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Davey O'Brien Award, both given to the top quarterback in the nation.

After graduating from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., Brennan enrolled at Worchester Academy in Massachusetts.

In 2002, he transferred to the University of Colorado as a walk-on before transferring again to Saddleback Community College.

He finished his collegiate career having played in 47 collegiate games. He piled up 16,725 yards with 154 touchdowns and 46 interceptions on 1,292-of-1,843 throws (70.1 completion percentage).

As a rusher, he gained 604 yards with 16 scores on 333 carries.

Overall, he totaled 17,329 yards on 2,176 offensive plays, an average of 368.7 yards per game.
