The Redskins have signed free agent nose tackle Anthony Bryant, the team announced on Monday.

Bryant, a three-year veteran, joins Maake Kemoeatu as defensive linemen listed as nose tackles on the Redskins' roster.

Bryant, 28, is expected to provide depth along the defensive line.

Bryant has appeared in nine NFL games, with three starts, in his career. He has totaled 11 tackles (five solo).

The 6-3, 335-pound Bryant spent the first six games of the 2009 season on the New York Giants practice squad before being moved to the practice squad/injured reserve list on Oct. 20.

Bryant was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth round (178th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, Bryant appeared in four games for the Buccaneers, making four tackles.

After starting the 2006 season on the Buccaneers' practice squad, Bryant joined the Detroit Lions, where he appeared in four games. He logged three starts and posted eight tackles (four solo).

Bryant has also had brief stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. He spent the 2008 season out of football.

Prior to the NFL, Bryant played college football at Alabama where he appeared in 48 games and registered 115 tackles (40 solo), 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and two passes defended in his career.

He is a native of Greensboro, Ala.
