The Redskins have signed free agent safety Tony Dixon, the team announced on Saturday. Dixon worked out for team officials on Saturday following the team's mini-camp practice at Redskins Park.

Dixon also contributed on special teams, posting 49 tackles during his career. In 2003, he led the Cowboys with 20 special teams tackles.

A three-year starter at safety at Alabama from 1998-2001, Dixon finished his career with the Crimson Tide posting 252 tackles. As a senior free safety, he recorded 90 tackles and two interceptions.
