Redskins Sign DeAngelo Hall

The Washington Redskins announced Nov. 8 that they have signed cornerback DeAngelo Hall and waived cornerback Leigh Torrence.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound Hall is in his fifth National Football League season out of Virginia Tech. He played and started eight games with Oakland this year before being waived on Wednesday. Thus far in 2008, the Chesapeake, Va., native has registered 48 tackles, three interceptions, 13 passes defensed and a half-sack.

Hall, a Pro Bowl selection in 2005 and 2006, has started 63 of the 65 games in which he has played. He spent his first four NFL seasons with Atlanta after the team chose him eighth overall in the 2004 draft, following a three-year career with the Hokies.

He has logged 20 career interceptions, which he has returned for 469 yards and three touchdowns

The 24-year-old Hall was born Nov. 19, 1983 in Chesapeake, Va., and attended the city's Deep Creek High School.

Torrence originally joined the Redskins as a free agent on Dec. 27, 2006. He played 16 games with one start in 2007 and nine games as a reserve in 2008
