Redskins Sign LB Lemons

The Redskins have signed linebacker Devin Lemons, the team announced on Wednesday. Lemons joins the Redskins after a solid performance as a tryout at the teams three-day mini-camp last weekend.

The 6-2, 232 pounder joins the Redskins after spending 2003 training camp with the Miami Dolphins. He was signed to the Dolphins roster in January 2003 and released prior to the regular season on Aug. 23.

Lemons began his professional career with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2001, spending his first year on the Bears practice squad. He was waived by Chicago prior to the start of the 2002 season.

A four-year letterman at Texas Tech (1997-2000), Lemons played defensive end and posted a career-high 86 tackles as a senior. He recorded 59 tackles his junior season and tied for third on the team with four sacks.

Lemons, 25, is a native of Bryan, Texas and attended Pampa High School where he was an all-state performer in football and basketball.
