Redskins Sign LB McCune

The Redskins have signed rookie linebacker Robert McCune, the team announced on Monday. McCune was the Redskins' fifth-round draft choice (154th overall) in last April's NFL Draft.
With the signing of McCune, the Redskins' remaining unsigned draft picks are first-rounders Carlos Rogers and Jason Campbell and fourth-rounder Manuel White, Jr.

McCune, 6-0 and 245 pounds, played in 51 games with 27 starts at Louisville. He recorded 320 tackles (169 solo), six sacks and two interceptions.

McCune returned to the United States to attend Louisville in 2000 after serving three years in the Army National Guard, including three months in Korea and three months in Kuwait.

McCune is a native of Mobile, Ala., where he attended LeFlore High School. He lettered twice in football and four times in track. He finished third in the state in the 100-meter dash and second in the 4x100 meter relay. He also claimed powerlifting titles during his junior and senior seasons.
