In need of inside linebacker depth, the Redskins have signed Zach Vigil to the active roster. Vigil spent the offseason with the Redskins after appearing in two games with Washington last season.

The Washington Redskins announced on Wednesday the signing of linebacker Zach Vigil to the active roster.

Additionally, the Redskins signed running back LeShun Daniels and safety Orion Stewart to the practice squad.

Vigil has returned to Washington after appearing in the Redskins' final two regular season games of the 2016 campaign.

In total, Vigil has appeared in 25 regular season games over the course of his three-year career, recording 20 tackles.

The Utah State product's signing comes one day after the Redskins placed Will Compton on Injured Reserve after the Nebraska product suffered a Lisfranc sprain in Washington's Week 10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Compton was the second inside linebacker placed on Injured Reserve over the last two weeks, as Mason Foster – who suffered a torn labrum in Week 2 – landed on the list in late October.

Vigil joins an inside linebacker corps that is headlined by Zach Brown, who currently leads the NFL in tackles with 96.

Washington also has 2015 fifth-round pick Martrell Spaight and 2017 seventh-round pick Josh-Harvey Clemons on the active roster.

Daniels, meanwhile, becomes the first running back on Washington's practice squad this season.

In 37 games at the University of Iowa, Daniels carried the ball 409 times for 1,895 yards and 19 touchdowns.

During his senior season in 2016, Daniels became the first Hawkeyes running back to rush for 1,000 yards as the six-foot, 216 pounder rushed for 1,058 yards on 213 carries.

Stewart joins Fish Smithson as the two safeties on the practice squad.

In 49 career games at Baylor, Stewart tallied 261 tackles with 27 passes defensed, 12 interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two sacks and a fumble forced. He earned All-Big 12 Conference honors three times.
